Overlooking 'top-caliber' foe would be mistake for Mark Magsayo

Unbeaten featherweight prospect Mark Magsayo will be up against a tough opponent in the main event of Pinoy Pride 41 in Cebu on Saturday.

Trainer Edito Villamor says that Nicaragua's Daniel "El General" Diaz is a highly experienced fighter with a record of 23 wins, 7 losses and 2 draws.

Mark Magsayo.
“He's a veteran fighter, ekpiryensyado,” Villamor told ABS-CBN News. “Lumaban na ito sa world title, lumaban na rin sa mga former world champions. Top caliber s'ya.”

Diaz is a former WBA title challenger, having faced Japan's Koki Kameda for the world bantamweight crown back in 2011. The Nicaraguan has lost only once in his last five bouts.

Meanwhile, Magsayo remains undefeated in 16 matches, with two of his last three fights ending via stoppage.

This is why they made sure Magsayo will come in prepared for the bout.
