Jusuf Nurkic not joining Bosnia in FIBA World Championship prequalification

Portland Trail Blazer giant Jusuf Nurkic has no plans of wearing Bosnia and Herzegovina colors in the upcoming FIBA World Championship prequalification and has made that clear in a recent post on his Instagram account.

Nurkic is obviously putting his recovery from a leg injury over his national team responsibilities. The seven-footer sustained the injury late last March and was then declared to be out of any basketball activities for two weeks. It was an unfortunate incident for Nurkic, who was performing very well for Portland prior to breaking his leg.

Jusuf Nurkic.
After getting traded in the middle of last season from the Denver Nuggets to Portland, Nurkic’s numbers jumped from 8.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks per game to 15.2, 10.4, and 1.3 respectively, in 19 games for the Trail Blazers, who gave the 22-year-old increased playing time of 29.2 minutes per game — almost 12 minutes more than what he averaged in Denver.

Nurkic was sent to Portland along with a 2017 first round pick in exchange for Mason Plumlee and a first-round pick in 2018 in a deal sealed back in February.
