Is Mark Magsayo ready to fight for world championship?

It's been a week since Mark Magsayo handily defeated Daniel Diaz, but referee Danrex Tapdasan remains awed by the way the rising featherweight Filipino fighter easily disposed of his tough Nicaraguan opponent.

Magsayo made quick work of Diaz, dropping him thrice in the opening round of Pinoy Pride 41 in Cebu last week.

Mark Magsayo.
Tapdasan, who officiated the bout, said it seemed that Diaz wasn't prepared for Magsayo's speed and power despite his experience as a former world title contender.

"Itong latest na laban niya kay Diaz. Ang bilis ng pangyayari," Tapdasan said on DZMM's "Fastbreak" on Saturday.

"Diaz was overwhelmed. Iyon ang nakita ko sa mata niya nu'ng first knockdown. He was shocked, 'Ganito pala kalakas ito.' "

Magsayo first dropped Diaz with a right cross-left hook combo midway the first round. The Nicaraguan was shaken, but was able to beat the count.
