GlobalPort averts 4th-quarter meltdown to upend Phoenix

Murphey Holloway bucked jetlag to score 29 points and pull down 26 rebounds, while Ryan Araña capped his perfect shooting night with a run-killing basket with 90 seconds to go, as GlobalPort downed Phoenix 100-91 in the PBA Governor's Cup at Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday.

Down 82-59, Phoenix mounted a 20-2 run midway through the 4th quarter to come within 5 points, 88-83 inside 3 minutes.

Globalport import Murphey Holloway.
After several misses by the Fuel Masters that would've made it a one-possession game, Araña stemmed the rising trade, hitting a layup to give the Batang Pier a 90-83 cushion.

A dunk by Holloway and a bucket by Terrence Romeo pushed GlobalPort's lead to 9 with 32 seconds to go, preserving the win.

Araña finished the game shooting 5 of 5 from the field, 1 of 1 from 3-point territory and 2 of 2 from the free-throw line, while Holloway also had 2 steals and 3 blocks in an all-around effort.

Romeo added 21 points, while Sean Anthony registered 9 points and 13 rebounds for GlobalPort for its first win of the tournament after losing in its debut against Rain Or Shine on Friday.
