Encho Serrano, Philippines top Poland in easy win

Encho Serrano scored 8 points on an array of breathtaking moves, as the Philippines routed Poland 20-14 in the FIBA 3x3 Under-18 World Cup in Chengdu, China on Friday.

Serrano, one of the top high-school players in the past season, ran circles around taller, slower Polish defenders to lead the Filipinos to win No. 2.

The Philippines will closely watch the game between the Netherlands and Israel, in progress as of posting time. If Israel wins, a 3-way tie in Pool A could occur among the aforementioned countries.

The Filipinos, a mix of athletic players who can hit from long range, jumped to an early 4-0 lead against Poland before completing the wire-to-wire victory.

While Juan Gomez di Liano took care of outside sniping and AJ Edu patrolled the paint, Serrano did everything in between, as the 5-foot-11 playmaker showed his strong driving skills to carve up Poland's defense and impressive leaping ability to sky for boards.

Poland exited the tournament with a 1-3 record.
