De La Hoya gives McGregor 'no chance' against Floyd

MANILA, Philippines – The "Golden Boy," Oscar De La Hoya, would very much like to see mixed martial arts superstar Conor McGregor pull off a momentous upset over Floyd Mayweather Jr. when they face off on August 26 in Las Vegas.

Unfortunately, De La Hoya believes that there is simply no way that "The Notorious" can defeat the boxer known as "Money."

"No. No chance," De La Hoya said flatly when asked by TMZ Sports if he believes McGregor can stun Mayweather in their boxing match.

"I wish he would, but he can't," the former 10-division world champion added. "If I couldn't get a chance in, come on."

"You think Conor McGregor, in my prime, is better than me?" De La Hoya added, rhetorically.

De La Hoya was referring to his May 5, 2007 bout against Mayweather, wherein the latter won via split decision. At the time, the fight was the most lucrative in the history of the sport, before it was eventually surpassed by Mayweather's "Fight of the Century" against Pacquiao in May 2015.
