MANILA, Philippines – Creamline team captain Alyssa Valdez earned the inaugural Philips Gold-PVL Press Corps Player of the Week honors for her efforts for the Cool Smashers from July 8 to 15.

The four-time PVL Most Valuable Player opened the week with a 23-point performance against the Air Force Lady Jet Spikers in a four-set win for Creamline.

Against the Myla Pablo-powered Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors, the former Ateneo de Manila University star exploded for 30 points and 16 digs to push Creamline to another four-set win that propelled the Cool Smashers to the top of the PVL Open Conference standings with an immaculate 4-0 record.

Valdez has been on fire throughout the entire conference, and she once again leads the league in scoring with a total of 108 points in four games. She also has nine total aces, and ranks sixth in digging with 3.56 digs per set.

The three-time UAAP MVP credits her solid performances to the addition of new teammates, including former Ateneo teammate Jia Morado, who is now Creamline's starting setter. Veterans Rose Vargas and Ging Balse have also provided scoring punch and leadership for the Cool Smashers.

"It's been great having Jia back on my side," said Valdez, who teamed up with Morado for three seasons in Ateneo. "She has always been a great setter, and she really makes it easier for her spikers like me to score."
