Creamline grounds Air Force for share of PVL lead

MANILA, Philippines – Creamline marched to its third victory in a row after overpowering Philippine Air Force in four sets, thus earning a share of first place in the 2017 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Open Conference on Sunday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Cool Smashers recovered from a meltdown in the third set with a dominant performance in the fourth en route to a 25-19, 25-22, 22-25, 25-12 victory.

Alyssa Valdez was again at the forefront of Creamline's charge, scoring 23 points on 20 attacks and three aces. Rose Vargas added 11 points, and Pau Soriano scored 10.

Creamline now has a 3-0 win-loss record, tied with the Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors at the top spot.

"We really have to collect as many wins as we can, because we know that Alyssa will be serving the country," said Creamline assistant coach Oliver Almadro, referring to Valdez's absence from July 17 to August 2 to join the national team in its training abroad.

"We don't know kung ano ang tatamaan na games, but we really have to collect as many wins as we can. Every day and every game is a learning day and a learning game sa amin," he added.
