Creamline frustrates Perlas, completes sweep of PVL elims

MANILA, Philippines – The Creamline Cool Smashers crawled their way out of a huge hole in the fourth set, then proved to be the steadier team in crunch time to hack out a four-set victory over Perlas-BanKo on Sunday night at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The 21-25, 25-22, 26-24, 28-26 victory gave the Cool Smashers a 7-0 sweep of the elimination round of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Open Conference.

Cesca Racraquin anchored Creamline's rally from a huge 7-17 deficit in the fourth frame, and the Cool Smashers then pounced on the Perlas Spikers' meltdown in the closing stretch to steal the win and head to the Final 4 on a high note.

"This is a big confidence-boost for us as we head to the semis," said Racraquin, the San Beda College ace who has stepped up in the absence of top spiker Alyssa Valdez.

Racraquin had 23 points, her highest output as a player for Creamline.

"This will be good for her (Racraquin) – playing in the PVL and getting that experience when she goes back to San Beda in the NCAA," said Creamline assistant coach Oliver Almadro.
