Castro confident TnT can make comeback

TnT fell to SMB in game 5 of the 2017 PBA Commissioners Cup Finals, allowing the Beermen to chop down their 15-point halftime lead and eventually lose, 111-102. KaTropa star guard Jayson Castro believes they could have finished off SMB had they had the killer’s instinct to finish off their opponents.

“Nakita nyo naman na kaya naming lumamang,” said Castro. “Siguro yung kung paano lang control yung game. Kasi doon kami nawala nung lumamang kami ng 15.

With things turning sour in the third period of game 5, Castro feels that they were not able to identify and adjust to the changes by the Beermen after the first half.

“Noong start ng third quarter, hindi naming na-control yung situation na si Rhodes ang nasa 5 and si Arwind nasa 4. Dami namin turnover at the same time hindi naming nakita ang mismatch namin. Hindi naming na maximize si Smith sa post.”

Castro provided his team with 12 points and 12 assists. However, his shooting was only a measly 31-percent with his teammates going blank in trying to stop the SMB onslaught.

“Nakita ko lang na mas-wide open sila sa akin, yun yung mga tamang desisyon para sa akin,” Castro said in defending his actions. “Yun nga, wag i-force yung mga tira ko at the same time, like sina Ranidel at Rosales – ang daming open. As a point guard, kung nasaan ang open dapat ipasa ko talaga.”
