This is part of the team’s corporate social responsibility with the Blackwater Elite now ambassadors for the awareness of Lupus (an autoimmune disease that causes the immune system to lose the ability to differentiate between foreign agents and healthy tissue).

“I am very happy that Blackwater Elite voluntarily offered to carry Hope for Lupus Foundation’s logo/name on their jerseys. This speaks of the commitment to corporate responsibility, which I admire,” said Dr. Geraldine Zamora-Racaza. Also known as Doc Ging, he is the founder of HFL Foundation and one of the latest recipients of The Outstanding Young Men and Women (TOYM) award.

“Many Filipinos love basketball and avidly follow the PBA Games. HFL’s logo being more visible to the public will enable our Foundation’s purpose to reach more people, and hopefully, will result in potentially more Filipinos helped in terms of earlier Lupus diagnosis, hence lesser complications and better outcomes.”

For the players, having the logo of the HFL Foundation gives them an added boost that they are not just playing for themselves but also for people who are diagnosed with Lupus.

“Malaking bagay para sa amin na sumuporta sa ganitong foundation na Hope for Lupus. Masarap sa pakiramdam na tumutulong sa nangangailangan,” said Blackwater Rookie Mac Belo.
