TNT players honor father-to-be Joshua Smith in Game 4

MANILA, Philippines -- It was not as if the TNT KaTropa needed additional motivation heading into Game 4 of the PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals against the San Miguel Beermen on Wednesday evening.

After all, they were down 2-1 in the best-of-7 series, and another loss will plunge them into a nearly insurmountable 3-1 series deficit.

Nevertheless, they found another source of inspiration in import Joshua Smith, whose girlfriend, Kristy Ochoa, is set to give birth to the couple's first child in Seattle. The couple are expecting a daughter.

The entire KaTropa thus wore "Kristy" patches over their jerseys in Game 4, and made sure that they welcomed Smith's child into the world on a winning note. TNT held off SMB, 102-97, to tie the best-of-7 series at two games apiece.

"Shoutout to my girlfriend and my unborn daughter, who will be born tomorrow," Smith said after the game.

According to TNT head coach Nash Racela, Smith and his girlfriend became a "rallying point" for the team.
