San Beda crowned FilOil kings as Bolick frustrates DLSU again

MANILA -- Robert Bolick has the biggest chip on his shoulder whenever he faces De La Salle University.

That showed yet again on Sunday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Bolick’s big basket that left only 8.5 seconds on the clock proved to be the difference between San Beda College and the Green Archers, 75-72, in a classic championship game in the 2017 FilOil Flying V Preseason Tournament.

The latest win completes an undefeated run for the Red Lions. More than that, it also grants them their second preseason title in the last three years.

“As always, credit to the boys. I loved the way they played today because everybody stepped up,” a hoarse-sounding, but well-satisfied head coach Boyet Fernandez said in his post-game conference.

It was all made possible by the Ormoc, Leyte native who found himself matched up against the much taller Santi Santillan in the dying seconds. He then crossed over the ball a couple of times before rising for what was still a well-defended trey.
