Perlas' Ahomiro can play in PVL Open Conference

MANILA, Philippines – The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) on Monday announced that it has amended its rule on permanent foreign residents, paving the way for former Ateneo de Manila University star Amy Ahomiro to see action for the Perlas Spikers in the upcoming Open Conference.

Ricky Palou, president of Sports Vision, said the league will allow players with Alien Certificate of Residence (ACR) to play in the upcoming tournament, but only if they have been residents for at least 10 years.

Ahomiro studied high school at Brent School, before suiting up for the Lady Eagles, helping them win the UAAP championships in Seasons 76 and 77.

"Our next conference is an Open Conference, not All-Filipino," Palou explained. "This is so because we will allow foreign nationals who are residents of the Philippines and holders of an ACR to play in our league."

"However, we have put a restriction, as only foreign residents and ACR holders for 10 continuous years will be allowed to play," he added.

This means that Thailand's Patchari Sangmuang is still not allowed to play for the Power Smashers. Sangmuang has an ACR, but has been a resident for only three years.
