LPU wants to make a breakthrough in Season 93

After coming a basket away from stunning UAAP champion La Salle and making the finals of the Filoil Flying V Premier Cup recently, the Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates appeared able and confident in making the Final 4 for the very first time in the 93rd NCAA basketball season.

CJ Perez, Cameroonian Mike Harry Nzeusseu and the twins Jaycee and Jayvee Marcelino have energized the Pirates so much that LPU, which has never placed as high as 6th in 6 years since it joined the NCAA, has been as a semifinal contender.

Perez is a former San Sebastian Stag who landed at LPU while Nzeusseu is a 6-5 forward who played college ball from Cebu before bringing his act to the Pirates.

The Marcelinos are combo guards from Olongapo who came in via Adamson.

"We're really working hard and having guys committed to really win. CJ is there to really help us," said LPU coachj Topex Robinson. "Again, I don’t really have a big, I only have Mike Harry (Nzeusseu), who now is shooting threes.”

"We were lucky they (Marcelinos) landed here and they really want to prove themselves and they energize the team," he added.
