Great rematch is on! Brownlee vs Durham

Meralco will bring back Allen Durham as import for the season-ending PBA Governors’ Cup, the same reinforcement the Bolts had when they advanced to their first ever finals last season.

Meralco mentor Norman Black confirmed yesterday that the 6-foot-5  Durham will be arriving July 4. The Governors’ Cup starts July 19.

Justin Brownlee of Ginebra; Allen Durham of Meralco.
Durham powered fourth-seeded Meralco to a semifinal series victory over No. 1 team TNT KaTropa during last year’s Governors’ Cup, with Durham bagging the Bobby Parks Best Import award.

The Bolts defeated the KaTropa, 3-1, in the best-of-five semifinal showdown that gave them their first championship appearance in franchise history. They joined the PBA back in 2010.

In the seven-game finals series, however, Meralco lost to Justin Brownlee-led Barangay Ginebra San Miguel when the Kings’ import buried a now immortalized game-winning triple in Game 6, with Brownlee hitting the rainbow against Durham from top of the key.

Durham averaged nearly 30 points per game with the Bolts with 15.30 rebounds, 5.04 assists, one steal and 1.26 blocks in 20 combined elimination and playoffs games.
